Job description:
Coffee Shop Barista - Entry Level
The Entry-Level Barista is responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving quality coffee and non-coffee beverages, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen & cafe, and assisting with all general café operations. This is a beginner position, perfect for someone with little to no prior coffee experience who is eager to learn and grow within the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities (Training Provided):
- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and process transactions using a POS (Point of Sale) system. Respond to customer inquiries and handle complaints professionally and kindly.
- Beverage Preparation: Learn to follow standard recipes and preparation techniques for espresso drinks (lattes, cappuccinos), drip coffee, tea, and other specialty beverages, ensuring high quality and consistency.
- Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash, credit card payments, and manage the cash drawer during shifts.
- Café Sanitation & Cleanliness: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all areas, including washing dishes, sanitizing counters & tables, cleaning the espresso machine, grinders, counters, customer seating area, and restrooms. Restock necessary items (cups, lids, napkins, ingredients).
- Food Handling: Prepare, bake, and serve simple food items (pastries, etc.) as required.
- Teamwork & Communication: Work collaboratively with the team during busy periods and communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
- Adherence to Standards: Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Age: Must be 17 or older.
- Experience: No prior barista experience is required (we will train you!). Previous experience in customer service or food service is a plus, but not necessary.
- Attitude: A positive, energetic, and friendly demeanor is essential. Willingness to learn new skills quickly and take initiative to accomplish work.
- Availability: Must have reliable transportation and be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work Ethic: Punctual, reliable, and a strong willingness to learn new skills quickly.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs (e.g., books, boxes), and perform repetitive tasks.
- Certifications: Food Handlers License. If you don't have, you will be required to get one before starting.

Coffee Bar Assistant Manager
Job Summary
The Coffee Bar Assistant Manager is responsible for the daily operation and customer experience of the coffee shop location. This includes leading shifts, ensuring exceptional product quality and customer service, managing inventory, maintaining store appearance and safety, and driving growth. The manager acts as the primary representative of the brand, upholding company standards in all aspects of the business. We are looking for someone with experience to help us grow.
Requirements
- Must have an up to date Food Manager Handler certificate (or ability to get one)
- Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekend, nights and/or holidays
- Must be able to work at least 1 weekends a month
- Experience working in retail food establishments
- Ability to independently manage shift operations
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Passion for growing sales and providing excellent customer service
- Must be ready to work 30+ hours per week for full time
- Must have reliable transportation to arrive on time every time
- Familiarity with kitchen management, food production processes, and catering is a plus.

Our store operates from 7AM - 6PM Monday - Saturday. We are looking to expand into Sundays and operate later during the summer months.
General Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage a high-performing team of baristas. Audit team performance and implement corrective action when necessary.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency. Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
- Customer Experience: Cultivate a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all customers. Handle customer complaints and issues professionally and effectively to ensure satisfaction.
- Financial Management: Manage inventory, minimize waste, and drive sales to meet and exceed budget goals. Responsible for accurate cash management during shifts.
- Inventory & Ordering: Manage inventory levels for coffee, food, and cafe supplies.
- Compliance: Ensure the store operates in full compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and company policies, including health and safety regulations.
- Troubleshooting: Handle all daily troubleshooting when challenges arise to ensure smooth operations, such as technology, customer, or machine issues.
Key Tasks and DutiesDaily Tasks
- Open/Close Procedures: Oversee or personally execute comprehensive opening or closing checklists, including cash register setup/teardown, safe counts, and routine bank deposits.
- Staffing & Scheduling: Review the daily schedule and make adjustments for call-offs or unexpected volume.
- Floor Management: Act as the Manager on Duty (MOD), actively supervising the bar, kitchen, and service areas to ensure efficiency, speed, and quality service.
- Quality Control: Test coffee and food products throughout the day to ensure consistency and adherence to recipes/standards.
- Communication: Conduct brief pre-shift meetings (huddles) to communicate daily goals, promotions, or operational focuses.
- Cleanliness & Maintenance: Walk the floor to inspect for cleanliness, organization, and necessary repairs. Oversee general cleaning and sanitation tasks.
- Administrative: Respond to emails, and process daily shipping/receiving
Weekly Tasks
- Scheduling: Work with Manager to create and finalize the weekly staff schedule, ensuring adequate coverage and managing labor costs within budget.
- Inventory & Ordering: Conduct a detailed physical inventory count of key items (e.g., milk, core supplies) and reconcile physical counts with the inventory management system. Place primary orders with vendors based on par levels and projected sales.
- Store Audit: Perform a comprehensive store walk-through audit focused on cleanliness, product freshness, merchandising, and safety compliance.
- Menu Development / Creative: Contribute to new drink and/or food ideas. Create seasonal or special menus.
- Preventative Maintenance: Schedule and oversee professional cleaning (e.g., espresso machine descaling, deep cleaning, etc) or general maintenance/repair work.
Monthly Tasks

Pay Range: $10-$13/hour
